What Exactly Are ACA Profile Keycaps? A Beginner’s Guide + Akko & MonsGeek Timeline Keycap Release
Nov. 29. 2025
For mechanical keyboard enthusiasts, the Keycap Profile (height and shape) is a critical element that defines both the typing feel and the visual aesthetic. Beyond the familiar Cherry Profile and OEM Profile, the market is constantly introducing innovative designs.
This guide introduces a new keycap profile, the ACA Profile, explaining its specifications, its connection to the classic Cherry Profile, and its use in the MonsGeek × Akko Timeline keycap set.
Starting with the Familiar: Cherry Profile
Cherry Profile is a classic and widely recognized keycap shape:
- Medium height (~9mm)
- Sculpted rows (each row has a different angle)
- Comfortable for long typing sessions
- Balanced sound profile
It’s the go-to choice for many mechanical keyboard users because it offers a natural feel and easy adaptation.
So What Exactly Is ACA Profile?
ACA Profile is a new keycap height/shape introduced by Akko. Its name is an acronym that reveals its design philosophy:
ACA = Akko, Cherry, All Sculpted Rows
- Medium-High height (similar to Cherry)
- Fully sculpted across all rows
- Ergonomically designed for typing or gaming
- Compatible with MX-style switches
ACA Profile offers a comfortable typing feel that’s easy to adapt to, while giving your keyboard a unique typing experience.
ACA Profile vs. Cherry Profile: Key Differences
| Feature | Cherry Profile | ACA Profile |
|---|---|---|
| Height | Lower standard, widely adopted | Generally slightly taller than Cherry Profile |
| Sculpting | Sculpted (R1-R4) to fit the fingers | Sculpted (R1-R4) to fit the fingers |
| Typing feel | Classic, comfortable, widely preferred | Inherits Cherry's comfort but might feel slightly more substantial or "taller" |
| Sound | High compatibility, low-height comfort, excellent for interference prevention. | Combines the Cherry sculpted feel with Akko's innovation to offer a unique and ergonomically-friendly typing angle. |
In short, ACA Profile keeps the familiar typing comfort of Cherry while improving ergonomics and aesthetics.
